VENEZIA, ITALY
GONDOLAS IN SIGHT!
Venice is a city in northeastern Italy sited on a group of 118 small islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. Venice is renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture, and its artwork. The city in its entirety is listed as a World Heritage Site, along with its lagoon.
The flag of the city! |
This city is worth a visit and what I liked he most was the historical atmosphere that you could breathe while walking, apart from its dirtiness, I guarantee you will be pleased.
LANDMARKS
Canal Grande
The main channel of Venice is just amazing!
Basilica di San Marco and Piazza San Marco
Palazzo Ducale
Ponte di Rialto
It is the oldest bridge that crosses the Canal Grande and it is the most famous Venice bridge.
Ponte dei Sospiri
It owes its name to the sighs of prisoners who, from here, for the last time saw the sky and the sea. It has nothing to do with the romantic sense that some authors have used as a poetic device. To access the bridge you have to follow the Secret Itinerary from inside the Ducal Palace in Venice.
Murano
If you are in Venice more than three days, you should visit this little part of Venice. Murano is a series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. It lies about 1.5 kilometres from Venice. It is famous for its glass making. Check out the murano glass stores and try to find something that doesn't empty your pockets!
Also go to Santa Maria della Salute, it is another gorgeous basilique, and try to get into a gondola to have a ride.
Enjoy la dolce vita style!
